Bound By Desire, Chapter 2
I forgot to tell you, as a Substack exclusive, you are getting these chapters pre final draft. As in before they have gone to my editor. There might be grammatical mistakes, and there might be changes to the story, minor changes, when this novel gets finalized.
I’ve tried my damnedest to get this as clean as possible, but knowing me, there will always be one or two boo-boos. Please feel free to point those out to me. Both my editor and I will eternally be in your debt. As the saying goes, it takes a village to write a good story… or at least I think that’s how the saying goes. 😜
Happy reading!
TRIGGERS!!! This chapter: None, except for dealing with dating apps!
Bound By Desire
Chapter 2
During the signup process for the dating app, I was asked a barrage of stupid questions.
“Do you make decisions easily?”
“In a room of strangers, do you get nervous?”
Dear God, why did this matter? I wasn’t given enough information to answer any of these effectively. Did the room full of strangers include the head of the company I worked for? Were any of them clients I hadn’t met? Yea, I might get nervous if I knew I was walking into a room of potential clients, unprepared, having no background on them and my job was on the line. But if it’s a room full of strangers, then no. At my age, I don’t care if Debbie or Don doesn’t like me. In my job, I make snap decisions daily, but I have information to base my decisions on. And what I like, Mr. Stupid App Questionnaire, is to have the time and information to make wise decisions. That’s the nature of my job and I don’t want to date my job.
So, I answered the stupid questions and wrote my bio:
Misplaced City Dweller
Single mom of one teenage daughter (agh!), great career, good dresser, nice teeth, surrounded by Stepford Wives, wishes to find a nice guy to escape suburbia a few nights each week for some fun, great Italian food and a couple of laughs. I think I remember what they sound like.
Becca - 46
I posted a picture, and I waited for Mr. Right.
